Cafe Sierra, Hastings St, Noosa

Pop Quiz:

Sierra in English translates to:

a) The place germs go when holidaying in Noosa
b) Pathetic service
c) A jagged saw
d) All of the above

This morning we attempted a Noosa 'local hot spot' and for this particular Sierra on Hastings Street, the answer could only be d) all of the above.

First up was an order of Corn and Ricotta cakes with tomato chutney and Parmesan. It was a reasonable serving of four fritters. It was an unreasonable serving of tomato chutney with enough there for just one fritter, leaving the other three bland and lifeless. I dont care how much rabbit food was served on the side. No chutney for me, no points for you.

On the other hand the Mexican style scrambled eggs complete with Quesadilla triangles, jalapeƱos, fresh salsa and sour cream were obviously the pick of the menu. It was inventive, surprising and full of flavour much like our waitresses rainbow eyeshadow. A stark contrast to the corn fritters, bland and boring just like her personality.

I chose the house made Bircher Muesli, swapping its side of pear compote for stewed Rhubarb. It was a complete disappointment. I couldn't even detect the trace of an oat within my bowl of dehydrated apple and frustrating linseeds which managed to still be wedged into my teeth after dinner that night. Its muesli, its not that hard, it still amazes me how someone can get it so so wrong.

And don't even get me started on their hygiene standards. Theres so much Hoo Haa on the Horse flu at the moment, cant say I know much about it except it threw my Melbourne Cup gambling plan out the window. But, if its caused by some sort of Parasite or germ, I think i might have an idea where it originated. The look of horror on our faces as the sweaty cook in the background hand mixed a big juicy bowl of fruit salad then rushed around to handle our money could of summed up this entire review. And the coffees you dare to ask? They only took 20minutes to arrive, a warm milkshake coming half way through one meal. And to think I actually risked ordering a latte after reading they did 'Noosa's best'. After one sip I was instantly reminded why I only ever order long blacks.

Sure the prices are reasonable as are the serves, but so they should be. The whole experience was pathetic. The service was some of the worst i've ever come across. All this 'local experience' left me with was a moving bowel and a seed wedged between my upper right 8 and 7.

5/10

If you dont want Horse Flu on your next holiday, do not eat here.
